It’s been a pleasure

Goodbye picture

Dear friends,

As we have been announcing to our cloud customers since October, from today onwards we will have to discontinue the service. This decision has been taken with much sadness and regret, but unfortunately Vocabulary Notebook has not grown as we expected, we have not been able to close further funding rounds and we will not be able to keep maintaining it.

This tough decision has been taken from the 30th of September, when we made the service free and gave a few months to our customers to back up their data. Now, the last day of the year, it is time to take the last step, shutting the product down.

It has been a very interesting journey of more than 2 years in which we have lived awesome experiences, met awesome people, obtained several awards and prizes, conducted scientific research… And in which we achieved more than 30 000 users in more than 130 countries worldwide.

We want to thank you for all those awesome experiences, for your support, feedback and for being part of this adventure.

We wish you all the best.

Sincerely,
Vocabulary Notebook Team

PS: If you want to know more about what we achieved during this period, you can review these slides about Vocabulary Notebook, this video about the mobile app for students or this video about the full platform for schools.

So, either if you are reading this article from a student’s perspective or if you are a teacher, you will find several ways in which this new platform can help you while either learning or teaching vocabulary.

Self-Assessment Tests, helpful or not?

“Self-assessment is not something to be added to the repertoire of teaching activities. It is a matter which needs to be taken into account in all considerations of learning” – David Boud [1] .

AssessmentAssessments always seem problematic for many students and teachers. Unfortunately, it is very common to see that traditional methods of assessment still prevail in the great majority of the schools all over the world.
